Emergencies are unpredictable. Your choice of an emergency room shouldn’t be. Located at Highway 249 and Chasewood Park Drive just south of Louetta Road, St. Luke’s Hospital at The Vintage (SLHV) ED is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including all holidays, with board-certified emergency physicians, skilled nurses and technicians who are specially trained to treat complaints ranging from minor injuries to serious health conditions, such as heart attack and strokes. All ED nursing staff has a minimal of three years ED experience and are certified in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and trauma nurse certification.

Patients and their families can take comfort in knowing that if a higher level of care is needed, SLHV provides referral and transport to St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

Emergency Department News You Need To Know

The SLHV ED has been making great strides in becoming the emergency care provider of choice in the Northwest Houston community. Here are a few updates from our ED:

• SLHV is in the final stages of implementing a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program which will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week; making it the only facility in Northwest Houston to offer this service to the community on a round-the-clock basis. The SLHV team of SANE nurses have begun presenting to local EMS and law enforcement as well as other women’s and legal groups on the service.
• By the end of 2011, the ED will turn in its application for accreditation as a designated Chest Pain Center, with official accreditation to take place in March 2012, only 15 months since opening.
• The SLHV ED is also in the process of applying to be a stroke center of excellence and is currently in the certification process. Certification date is expected sometime in the Fall of 2012.
• SLHV is capable of treating pediatric, as well as adult emergencies. To make the ED a little more kid friendly, one ED exam room was redesigned and painted in bright and fun colors inspired by the book “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!” The entire idea was carried out by the nursing staff for the purpose of soothing and relaxing the children that who to come into the ED for care.
